our open forest classrooms offer a unique wooded experience and our campus also maintains a fenced-in area outside where our youngest students thrive. each learning space is unique and offers children spaces to sit and work, observe or read quietly, AND opportunities to move their growing bodies.
nature trail
The nature trail is the perfect hike for little legs — about a half mile through the woods, children can stop at the hand-painted signs and learn about the different animal tracks, trees, and plants that they may see along the trail. Students can begin to understand cardinal directions and learn to navigate their way through the wilderness on their daily hikes.
the deep woods
the deep woods learning space is our largest learning space where students can climb atop a large a-frame structure, seek shelter under the rainflies, walk the labyrinth or take a front-row seat to a live wildlife show featuring several different species of birds, foxes, deer, squirrels and LOTS of cool insects.
the children’s garden
Our gated garden area was designed with children in mind and offers several rasied beds where children sow vegetable, fruit, herb and flower seeds. Students also weed, water, harvest and taste every year. At the center of the garden is our mud kitchen where little hands can get as messy as their wild hearts desire.
the fairy garden
The fairy garden is one of our students’ favorite spots as it includes the amazing zipline! Nearby covered areas with tables offer spaces to learn and work with a variety of materials designed to enhance our students’ natural learning experience.
the west garden
The enclosed west garden offers art opportunities including a giant chalkboard and easel along with a sandpit, sensory table, and climbing opportunities.
the play yard
Every school needs a playground and ours welcomes little ones to climb, slide, swing, hang, ride balance bikes, push wheelbarrows, pull wagons, and rest or snack under the shade of the pavilion.
the hideout
The hideout is one of our open wooded classroom spaces with covered areas for shade and shelter, a ninja line, a giant ball tracking ramp installation, and when we’re lucky, a mama deer leaves her fawn nearby for us to keep an eye on while she forages in the woods nearby.
